Learning to Slow Down

What happens in the ten minutes after recess might be the most important part of the school day.

In this piece, written to mark SEL Day 2026, Early Years educator Talia Petkova shares how a simple shift in her Kindergarten classroom — lowered lights, soft music, and a short window of child-led calm — has transformed the way her students transition from the energy of the playground back into focused learning. The results speak for themselves: fewer conflicts, greater self-awareness, and children who are genuinely ready to learn.

Celebrating SEL Day at ISH: Skills for Community, Skills for Career

This week, ISH is joining schools and communities around the world in marking SEL Day,  a global celebration of social and emotional learning.

Upper School Exhibition Opening – 4 March 2026

Join us on Wednesday, 4 March from 5:00–7:00 pm as we celebrate ten years of the ISH Upper School Exhibition. This year, 80 students present more than 300 works spanning art, design, and innovation. All community members, alumni, and faculty are warmly welcome.

This week, International School Hellerup came alive with Halloween spirit as students across Primary, Middle School, and High School celebrated the spooky season together.

International Day 2025

International Day brought our community together in a wonderful celebration of the many cultures that make ISH so special.

Thank you to all the families who shared traditional dishes from home, the volunteers who organised activities throughout the day, and everyone who joined in. We’re especially grateful to Bindia and Seks Bakery & Eatery for their generous contributions, and to our PTA committee and parent volunteers for leading the organisation of such a successful event.
