Middle School

Over 90% of our MYP students perform within or above the national average in most year groups. We use Aimsweb Plus benchmark assessments to track progress in literacy and numeracy, identify learning needs early, and plan targeted support or extension for each student. Rather than just reporting scores, we celebrate strengths and tailor instruction to individual needs.

Student well-being is central to our approach. Each student meets with their Advisor daily and attends a 45-minute session each week. Advisors teach social-emotional skills, help develop academic strategies, and create space for student voice and choice. Advisory classes have approximately 25 students and run for 15 minutes at the start of each day, plus an extended one-hour session on Mondays.

ISH has been an authorised IB MYP school since April 2015. The MYP spans 5 years and prepares students for the IB Diploma Programme. Students complete MYP 1–4 at our Hellerup Campus and MYP 5 at our Østerbro Campus for a smooth transition to Diploma.

Courses are offered across eight subject groups: Arts, Design, Individuals and Societies, Language & Literature, Language Acquisition, Mathematics, Physical and Health Education, and Sciences. Each subject includes 3–5 units of learning with formative and summative assessments. Students demonstrate understanding through projects, videos, written or oral texts, and more.

The Personal Project is an IB requirement and the culminating assessment of the MYP. Students explore a personal interest, set learning goals, and create a product over approximately 25 hours of independent work. The project assesses Approaches to Learning skills—self-management, research, communication, critical and creative thinking, and collaboration—and prepares students for the IB Diploma Programme.

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards. Our school is inspected annually by the Danish Ministry of Education and evaluated by the International Baccalaureate Organisation every five years to maintain our accreditation, ensuring a fully authorised learning environment for your child.
