2020-2021 Learning Models
We have developed two learning models for the 2020-21 school year in anticipation of ongoing and evolving challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The campus is open and students attend school in person five days a week.
- Regular assessment methods are used
- Enhanced hygiene measures and physical distancing measures in place
- Modifications to some activities and events
- Remote learning is provided for those unable to be on campus due to COVID related quarantine, high-risk health conditions or other special circumstances
- Teaching and learning is conducted online
- All school activities and events are postponed, cancelled or held as virtual events.
- Depending on the circumstances, remote learning may be implemented for a class, a grade level, a division or the whole school.

The decision of which model will be employed over the course of the school year will be based on the directives and guidelines of the Danish Health Authority and the Ministry of Education.
Health and Safety Measures
We are adopting a range of measures at school in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. You can find additional information and guidance relating to novel coronavirus in our COVID-19 Community Support FAQ.
Daily Symptom Checks Before Leaving Home
The most important measure that can be taken to reduce the risk of infection in our community is: Do not come to school if you are sick. We ask our students and staff to check their health condition every day before leaving home. If a staff member or student develops symptoms of COVID-19, including mild symptoms, you must stay at home until you have been completely symptom-free for 48 hours.
Frequent Hand-washing and use of Sand Sanitiser
Hand sanitiser is provided in every classroom and in common areas such as the library and canteen. Students are reminded to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water when arriving at school and before/after recess and lunchtime.
Distancing measures are implemented in classrooms and common areas to maintain 1 metre of physical distance from others whenever possible. In situations where a teacher or student is presenting to the rest of the class, there must be a 2-metre distance between the presenter and the first row of students in the classroom. When the teaching situation requires that students deviate from the 1-metre requirement, teachers will have an increased focus on hygiene and on reducing the number and duration of face-to-face contacts.
When students are at school they will spend the majority of the day in specified rooms/floors by grade level and teachers will rotate into those locations. This is done to help minimise exposure across the school environment. Exceptions will be for specialised facilities (science, music, art & design and PHE), the canteen and the library.
Everyone is expected to (and will be reminded to) practice proper coughing/sneezing etiquette at all times: cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing; use a paper tissue or your sleeve and not your hand.
Increased Cleaning and Disinfection
Cleaning routines have been modified to include more frequent cleaning and disinfection of common surfaces, with particular attention to door handles, desks and other areas of regular contact.
Windows and doors are to be kept open in all rooms to provide cross-ventilation. Air conditioning is not used at the school.
Parents and Visitors at School
Due to the need to limit the number of people at school at any one time, parents are asked to refrain from coming to school without a prior appointment until further notice. Parents wishing to speak with teachers, faculty or office staff should arrange to speak via telephone or video call if possible, although exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.
In order to avoid crowding on the school grounds during drop off time, parents are asked to drop off their child at one of the school gates. The school gates are open and supervised from 8:10. Students in PYP should wait in their designated waiting area until 8:20 and then walk to their classroom via their assigned entrance door. Students in MYP can enter the school grounds using their access tag from 8:00 and should walk directly to the MYP lounge, using their assigned entrance door. Please note that if you need to drop off your child before 8:10, your child should be enrolled in the Morning Club.
Modified School Lunch Service
The school lunch service has been modified to enhance hygiene measures and to reduce crowding and physical contact. Protective screens have been installed by the lunch buffet and serve ware is changed after each class/group. The kitchen staff wears face masks at all times. The lunch timings have been revised to avoid overcrowding and designated alternative eating places are available, particularly for students in the upper MYP. Hand sanitiser is provided at the entrance to the canteen and by the lunch buffet.
Modified Admissions Tours
The admissions tours have been modified so a maximum number of participants will be invited to the school at any one time. School tours for Early Years/Primary School, Middle School and High School are held on separate days. During the tours, visitors will be allowed to look into but not enter classrooms. All visitors are informed about the school’s health & safety protocols, including not being permitted on campus if exhibiting any flu-like symptoms. You can read more about our school tours here.
Families that have returned from a country that is considered ‘banned’ by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Denmark must wait for 14 days before coming to school. Please read more about our quarantine policy here.
