ISH encourages and supports student-led learning through a range of elective lessons geared to promote a well-rounded and engaging education. Students in all grade levels choose from a selection of classes both during the school day and in the after-school time slots. Students in the Middle Years Programme are required to take a minimum of elective classes and are awarded credits based on participation, while students in the Primary Years Programme are encouraged to, but not required to take elective classes.
There are two divisions for elective choices, each of which has options created for their age level. The section below lists all of the PYP and MYP elective options that are offered as of right now (other than music programmes-please see this page for information about music classes). Click on the images to read more about each elective. If more programmes are added throughout the year, they will be added to this page, and a message will be sent out notifying parents of the new course added.
In addition to the electives listed below, PYP and MYP are also invited to join the Danish Club, a free club run by DP students that takes place every Wednesday from 15:00 – 16:00. For more information, please see this poster.
At ISH we expect responsible, safe participation in both school time and during electives. This is for student safety and to maximize participation, learning and enjoyment for all students. If a student is unable to meet these behavioral expectations, they will be given reminders and the family notified of the problem. If the behavior does not improve, then the student may be removed from the elective with no refund.
