Remote Learning in PYP

PYP Updates

  • Student-Led Conferences: The SLCs have been postponed until May. More information will follow.

  • No Assignments over the Spring Break: There will be no assigned activities / learning engagements over the break.

What does remote learning look like in the PYP?

  • Optional daily morning welcome with the Primary School Principal from 8:20-8:30*
  • Daily videos, assignments and activities from teachers, by 9:00, via SeeSaw
  • Flexible learning arrangements (children can learn at different times of the day)
  • Learning appropriate for the home environment

*A new meeting link to the PYP morning welcome was shared in a letter from the Head of School on Friday, March 20. Tip: Bookmark the meeting link to easily join the morning welcome every day!

What will my child’s day look like now?

PYP Parents
  • Use the Seesaw Class app, scan the Seesaw individual learning code for your child that the homeroom teacher has shared with you and select “I’m a student”
  • Log in to SeeSaw daily at 9:00 to check the day’s learning engagements and messages
  • Support your child’s learning (see below guidelines)
  • Assist your child with access to technology (following screen time guidelines per age)
PYP Students
  • Use the Seesaw Class app, scan the Seesaw individual learning code that the homeroom teacher has shared with you and select “I’m a student”
  • Log in to SeeSaw daily at 9:00 to check the day’s learning engagements and messages
  • Learn responsibly in the home environment (see below expectations)
  • Engage in balanced on screen/off screen guided learning:
    • up to 1 hour a day for Early Years-PYP1
    • up to 2.5 hours a day for PYP 2-5

PYP Teachers
  • On Monday, homeroom teachers post a video on Seesaw to briefly explain the learning approach and weekly focus
  • All teachers: post assignments and learning engagements with reference to other resources on Seesaw every day (homeroom teachers) / follow the regular timetable (single-subject teachers)
  • Responsive feedback and guidance to students and families (within 24 hours on week days)
  • Other time in the day offers opportunities to develop new skills or explore sustained projects, including board games, cooking, household responsibilities, creative arts, and all forms of play.
  • PYP5 students will use their own device and need to sustain their Exhibition research. This will include checking emails daily, weekly assignments via ManageBac and weekly Exhibition group sessions with their mentor.

Remote learning students responsibilities

  • We check appropriate online platforms on a daily basis
  • We submit all assessment tasks by the due dates
  • We engage in all learning with appropriate academic honesty and integrity

  • We establish healthy daily routines for engaging in the learning experiences
  • We identify a comfortable, quiet space at home to learn effectively
  • We ensure our own social and emotional balance, with healthy habits
Effective communication helps us learn:
  • We communicate proactively with our teachers

After School Online Programme

The ASCP becomes the After School Online Programme! Your favourite ASCP teachers are now working to produce interactive activities, videos and live streaming events that interested students can access through SEESAW and the ISH Youtube Channel.
