The Middle Years Programme at ISH is designed to meet the needs of students aged 11 to 16. The programme provides a broad and balanced education for early adolescents and helps students make practical connections between the subjects and concepts taught and the world around them. Our students are encouraged to inquire, take action and reflect on their learning.
Through the Concepts and Global Contexts, students are taught how to view subject content through a variety of frameworks and make associations between subjects.
The Middle Years Programme and its curriculum at ISH have been created around the MYP model.
The subject groups of the MYP at ISH are:
- Language and Literature (English and Danish)
- Language Acquisition (French, Danish and EAL)
- Individuals and Societies
- Arts (Music, Visual Art and Drama)
- Physical Health Education
The curriculum also includes Global Contexts; Approaches to Learning (ATL) and Service Action. These Global contexts connect academic subjects with the real world. They encourage students to make links between what is being taught and learnt in the classroom and in the real world.
We don’t have external examinations at our school. Students are assessed according to the IBO criteria and have a wide variety of formative and summative assessment tasks throughout the year. In MYP 5, the students undertake the Personal Project to show that they have acquired the skills taught and learnt in the MYP.
