The IB Diploma Program (DP) is an assessed programme for students aged 16-19 that leads to the award of an IB Diploma. The DP is an academically challenging and balanced programme of international education that is respected by leading universities across the globe. It seeks to create self-motivated, life-long learners who are internationally minded, and who care about our world, its cultures, and its communities.
As a small school, with a family feel, you will find smaller class sizes, and more personalised attention during class. Teacher Mentors follow up with you weekly, and help support you through the Diploma Programme, to make you feel confident and sure of yourself.
What does the DP look like?
The DP itself consists of six subjects, as well as a core of three concepts. Students must complete all core requirements, as well as pass all of their six subjects in order to receive the full IB DP certificate. Three of the subjects are completed at the “Standard” level, and three must be completed at the “Higher” level. Students have free choice as to which courses they complete at which level

DP Core Information:
At the core of the IB Diploma Programme there is TOK, the EE, and CAS. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a course, taught over two years, that brings together the learning of all subject areas. It asks students to think about thinking and how concepts relate to each other both in school, and the real world. It culminates in a presentation, and an essay.
The Extended Essay (EE) is a 4000 word essay that allows students to explore an area of interest in depth. Students have the freedom to focus this themselves, and they receive ongoing support through having a teacher mentor throughout the process.
Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is a programme that requires DP students to get out of their comfort zone, out of the classrooms, and engage with the community. Students need to take part in, and reflect on, their activities in all three pillars of this core programme. Creative projects, such as music lessons or learning a new skill show students what they are capable of; Activity projects, such as participating in a team or individual sport build strength and wellness; and, Service related projects – such as Habitat for Humanity – build links for the students between themselves and others in their immediate community, and as part of the global community.
